Common Issues
Q: I can't find my page/database
Solution:
- Check if you're filtering by workspace
- Select "All Workspaces" to see everything
- Use the search bar to find by name
- Check if it was accidentally moved to another workspace
Q: Workspace dropdown is empty
Solution:
- Workspaces are fetched on page load
- Refresh the page
- Check your network connection
- Contact support if issue persists
Q: Can't change workspace on a page
Solution:
- Ensure you have edit permissions on the page
- Check if the workspace selector is visible (below title, left of tags)
- Try refreshing the page
- Check browser console for errors
Q: Deleted workspace, where did my content go?
Answer:
- Your pages/databases are safe!
- They're now in "No workspace"
- View "All Workspaces" or "No workspace" to find them
- Reassign them to a new workspace
Q: Can I have nested workspaces?
Answer:
- Not currently supported
- Use tags for additional categorization
- Consider naming convention (e.g., "Client - Acme", "Client - TechStart")
Q: How many workspaces can I create?
Answer:
- No hard limit
- Recommended: 5-15 for optimal organization
- Too many workspaces can become hard to manage
- Consider using tags instead for fine-grained categorization
Q: Can I set a default workspace for new content?
Answer:
- When creating content, the currently selected workspace is pre-selected
- Navigate via sidebar to have that workspace pre-selected
- The "General" workspace is the system default
Q: Do workspaces affect permissions?
Answer:
- No, workspaces are for organization only
- Use the permissions system for access control
- All team members can see all workspaces
- Permissions are set per page/database
General Questions
What's the difference between workspaces and tags?
Answer:
- Workspaces = Broad, mutually exclusive categories (like folders)
- Tags = Flexible, multiple per item (like labels)
- Use workspaces for primary organization, tags for attributes
Can a page be in multiple workspaces?
Answer: No, each page/database can only be in one workspace at a time. Use tags for cross-cutting categorization.
Are workspaces team-wide or personal?
Answer: Team-wide. All team members see the same workspaces. Use naming to indicate purpose (e.g., "John's Personal").
Can I reorder workspaces in the sidebar?
Answer: Workspaces are sorted by their sort order (set when created). UI for reordering coming soon.
What happens to workspace when I leave a team?
Answer: Workspaces belong to the team, not individuals. They remain when you leave.
Technical Questions
Are workspaces backed up?
Answer: Yes, workspaces are part of your team's database and included in all backups.
Can I export workspace structure?
Answer: Not currently, but you can export all pages/databases with their workspace assignments.
Do workspaces affect performance?
Answer: No, filtering by workspace is optimized with database indexes.
Can I use workspaces via API?
Answer: Yes! See API documentation for workspace endpoints.
